Advanced 2D Photography, 3D imaging and Skin Complexion Analysis analysis
Facial structure and skin analysis: advanced treatment planning
Facial aesthetics is the integration of art, science and medicine. It is a discipline that is formulated on certain fundamental principles based on the appreciation of form, proportion and symmetry. Facial aesthetics is, therefore, not a “cookie-cutter” procedure as each patient presents with unique features and poses specific treatment challenges. Careful analysis and planning are, therefore, essential to achieve optimal results. The assessment needs to be both precise and detailed utilising reproducible and standardised images to reduce potential observer bias and enable proper comparison of before and after treatment results. This can only be done through high-quality professional photography and imaging systems. Even the latest smartphone cameras and point and click devices are not suitable as they introduce a high degree of perspective distortion that can greatly affect facial proportions and appearance of individual facial features. They also do not provide sufficient image resolution and offer poor lighting consistency.
2D Photography
Our studio photography setup utilises a next-generation twenty-six megapixels full-frame DSLR camera in combination with a high-quality professional portrait lens to prevent distortion. Consistent images are taken against a light-absorbing background with advanced multi-source wall mounted studio lighting to reduce unwanted shadows and allow for more accurate image analysis. Photography angles are standardised using a motorised automated platform for patients to stand on to ensure consistency and reproducibility.
3D Imaging
For our facial harmonisation procedures, we utilise ground-breaking 3D imaging systems (Canfield H2 camera with VECTRA software) to enable advanced computer-based image assessments and treatment planning. These images complement the 2D photography by allowing us to measure with a high degree of accuracy individual facial features and proportions and precisely monitor changes during the treatment stages. The facial images can be manipulated in realtime and viewed from all angles to identify and measure suboptimal features in a more in-depth manner than with 2D images. The combination of state-of-the-art 3D imaging with advanced minimally-invasive concepts and techniques represents a paradigm shift in the field of facial aesthetics.
VISIA Skin Complexion Analysis
VISIA is a specialised non-invasive computer-based skin complexion visualisation and assessment system. It uses cross-polarised and UV light in combination with a high-resolution camera on a motorised platform to take a series of standardised multi-spectral photographs of the skin. The images are then analysed using advanced software to allow us to identify and measure eight key surface and sub-surface skin conditions. Using this system, we can assess different key aspects of skin health and both accurately identify and quantify various visible skin concerns such as wrinkles, blemishes, brown spots, pores, red areas and textures as well as those that may not be readily visible to the naked eye such as UV spots and porphyrins. By utilising this comprehensive digital skin analysis data in combination with an assessment of your age, medical history and lifestyle, we can develop tailored treatment plans using evidence-based procedures and professional medical-grade skincare products. These treatments can significantly improve your skin health and appearance by addressing the various skin concerns identified through VISIA with the ability to accurately measure and document changes using this system.
